A Wooden Trivet with a Hand-Cut Anchor, Made in Baltimore

A great gift for the sailor, the friend with a place at the shore, or anyone whose home leans coastal, this wooden anchor trivet brings a little of the water into the kitchen. The anchor is hand cut with a scroll saw within a thick square of maple in our Baltimore woodshop. It keeps a hot pan off the counter, and it's good-looking enough to leave out when dinner is over.

Why This Anchor Trivet Is So Lovable

  • It does a real job: set a hot pot or casserole dish on it and your counter or table is protected from burn marks.
  • The anchor is cut all the way through the wood, so you can spot it from across the kitchen.
  • Four rubber feet are screwed into the bottom, so they won't fall off or get lost.
  • It arrives packed in a cotton drawstring bag, so it's ready to give the minute it lands.

Baltimore is a harbor town, and the anchor has always been one of our favorite nautical shapes. Keep this trivet by the stove so it's ready for a hot pan, set it on the table under a serving dish, or prop it on a shelf with the rest of your coastal decor. When it isn't working, it's simply part of the room.

Each one is made in our Hampden woodshop in Baltimore from maple butcher block, a sustainably harvested American hardwood. The anchor is cut by hand with a scroll saw, then the trivet is sanded and finished by hand. It's thicker than most people expect from a trivet. Because wood is wood, the color of yours may vary a little from the photos.

It makes a thoughtful housewarming gift for a new home near the water, a nod to the boater in the family, or a hostess gift for a weekend at the lake. Build a set with our octopus trivet or three shells trivet, add an octopus wood coaster, or see all of our wooden trivets. New to trivets? Our guide explains what a trivet is and how to use one.

Make It Yours

Add a name, a date, or both, laser engraved in our Baltimore woodshop. A family name, the name of their boat, or the year they bought the place at the shore turns a kitchen favorite into a keepsake.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will my order ship?

Most orders ship within 1–2 business days after they're ready. Personalized and made-to-order items are made first, and the Shipping tab on each product page lists that production time.

Once we generate a shipping label, you'll get a confirmation email with a tracking number. It can take up to 24 hours for the carrier to start updating tracking information, so don't worry if it shows nothing right away.

Sending this as a gift? We never include pricing on the packing slip — so it's safe to ship directly to the recipient.

What happens if I'm not happy with my order?

We unconditionally guarantee every gift we make. If something arrives that doesn't live up to your expectations — a defect, damage in transit, anything that isn't right — contact us and we'll make it right by sending a replacement.

We've been doing this since 2013, and we'd rather you tell us when something's wrong than walk away unhappy. Email kim@wordswithboards.com or use our contact page and we'll take care of you.

What is a trivet used for?

A trivet sits under a hot pan or dish to protect your counter or table from burn marks. Ours are decorative, too, so they can stay out on the counter when they're not in use.

How do I care for a wooden trivet?

Wash it with mild soap and water as needed, and let it dry completely on all sides. Never put it in the dishwasher or let it sit in water.

Proudly Made in America

We believe made in America matters — for the hands that make it, the economy we support, and the planet we all share.

Inside Our Baltimore Woodshop

In our Hampden woodshop, our artisans cut, sand, and finish our boards and lazy susans by hand, whether the words are hand-cut on a scroll saw or engraved in our studio. No shortcuts. Ever.
