If you've ever fumbled with an oversized chef's knife while trying to mince a handful of garlic or trim fat from a chicken thigh, you already understand the problem. A petty knife solves it.
This small Japanese-style utility knife—typically 4.5" to 6" in length—bridges the gap between a paring knife and a full chef's knife, giving you the control and agility that neither can match.
Our petty knives feature a 5" Japanese-style blades in both stainless steel and carbon steel (dark color), paired with one-of-a-kind wood handles handcrafted by Mike in our woodshop. These aren't mass-produced tools. They're functional works of art built for people who take cooking seriously—and they make exceptional gifts, whether you're treating yourself or someone you care about.
Precision and control for detailed work on small foods like veggies, fruits or herbs
Versatile enough for board work like slicing small foods and in-hand tasks like peeling or trimming
Comfortable for extended prep sessions
Compact size that doesn't intimidate beginners
