A Novelty Cutting Board for the Friend Who Gets the Joke

A great gift for the friend with a quick wit, the cook who talks back, or anyone who’d rather laugh than unwrap another candle, this funny cutting board says exactly what it means. BITE ME is hand cut into butcher block maple with a scroll saw, and a bite mark is cut out of the lower right corner, as if someone couldn’t wait. Set it out with snacks and see who gets the joke first.

Why This Funny Cutting Board Is So Lovable

  • The bite mark is the punchline: a bite cut right out of the lower right side of the board.
  • The letters are hand cut with a scroll saw, one at a time, so they won’t fade, peel, or wash off.
  • It’s a real working board you can chop on, then turn around and use for serving.
  • It’s sized to live on the counter, big enough for slicing bread or a block of cheese and easy to grab for a quick snack board.

Some gifts are meant to make people tear up. This one is meant to make them laugh out loud before the wrapping paper hits the floor. Hand it to the friend who’s always first to the cheese plate, bring it to a white elephant swap, or give it for a birthday when you’re shopping for someone who has everything. Then watch it become the board they reach for every day.

Every board starts as sustainably forested American hard maple in our Hampden woodshop in Baltimore. The letters are cut by hand with a scroll saw, then sanded smooth by one of our artisans. Maple is light and modern, so the board looks right at home on any counter.

Want more laughs? Browse our funny cutting board sayings, see the Eat Me board and the YUM board, or say it your own way with one of our personalized cutting boards. And because we plant a tree in the U.S. for every cutting board we sell, the joke gives back a little, too.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a funny cutting board a good gift?

Yes, especially for the person who has everything or anyone with a good sense of humor. A funny cutting board gets a laugh when it's unwrapped, then keeps earning its spot in the kitchen long after the joke. It's a favorite for birthdays, white elephant swaps, and housewarmings.

Can I add a name to this board?

This design comes as shown, without personalization. If you'd like names or your own words, take a look at our personalized cutting boards, or email kim@wordswithboards.com about a custom project.

How do I care for a wooden cutting board?

Hand wash your board with warm water and mild soap, then prop it up so that it dries on all sides (you can also set it on a cookie rack to elevate it from the counter allowing for good air flow). Avoid soaking it in water. Periodically applying food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner will help maintain its beauty and prevent the wood from drying out.

When will my order ship?

Most orders ship within 1–2 business days after they're ready. Personalized and made-to-order items are made first, and the Shipping tab on each product page lists that production time.

Once we generate a shipping label, you'll get a confirmation email with a tracking number. It can take up to 24 hours for the carrier to start updating tracking information, so don't worry if it shows nothing right away.

Sending this as a gift? We never include pricing on the packing slip — so it's safe to ship directly to the recipient.

What happens if I'm not happy with my order?

We unconditionally guarantee every gift we make. If something arrives that doesn't live up to your expectations — a defect, damage in transit, anything that isn't right — contact us and we'll make it right by sending a replacement.

We've been doing this since 2013, and we'd rather you tell us when something's wrong than walk away unhappy. Email kim@wordswithboards.com or use our contact page and we'll take care of you.

In our Hampden woodshop, our artisans cut, sand, and finish our boards and lazy susans by hand, whether the words are hand-cut on a scroll saw or engraved in our studio. No shortcuts. Ever.
