Some cutting boards are for chopping. This one is for the whole meal — from cutting the vegetables to carving the turkey to using it as a charcuterie board. One side slopes gently toward a built-in channel that catches every drop of juice before it hits your counter (or your favorite shirt). Flip it over, and it's a flat, everyday board for weeknight prep. Built-in handles on both sides mean you can carry it straight from the kitchen to the table.

Why This Meat Cutting Board Is So Lovable

  • The sloped side channels juices into a deep well as you carve, so a smoked brisket or a holiday roast doesn't leak across your counter on its way to the table.
  • Built-in handles on both sides make it easy to carry from kitchen to table — no fumbling with a slippery, juice-slick board.
  • It's not just for meat — the sloped side is just as good for watermelon, pineapple, oranges, or a full charcuterie spread.

Each one is made from sustainably forested cherry or walnut in our Baltimore wood shop, then sanded and finished by hand. It comes in two sizes — a compact board sized for weeknight meals for 2, and a larger one built for a holiday spread or a crowd around the grill. Personalize it with a name, initials, or a short message, and it becomes something more than a cutting board — it's the kind of gift a griller, a host, or "the person who has everything" will actually use. We hear from customers who buy this as a Father's Day gift, a housewarming gift, a wedding gift for the couple who loves to entertain, or simply because they wanted one for themselves.

Make It Yours

Add a name, initials, or a short message. Every letter is laser engraved and sanded smooth in our Baltimore studio.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of wood is best for a cutting board?

Hardwoods such as maple, cherry, and walnut are popular choices because they are durable, beautiful, and gentle on knives. Each wood has its own unique grain pattern and color, allowing you to choose a style that best fits your kitchen or gifting occasion.

How do I care for a wooden cutting board?

Hand wash your board with warm water and mild soap, then prop it up so that it dries on all sides (you can also set it on a cookie rack to elevate it from the counter allowing for good air flow). Avoid soaking it in water. Periodically applying food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner will help maintain its beauty and prevent the wood from drying out.

Can personalized cutting boards go in the dishwasher?

No. Wooden cutting boards should never be placed in the dishwasher. Excessive heat and prolonged exposure to water can cause the wood to warp, crack, or split.

How long does it take to make my order?

It depends on the product. Each product page lists its production time in the Shipping tab, and personalized pieces are made to order in our Baltimore studio. During the holiday season, allowing extra time is always recommended. If you need it sooner, please email us at kim@wordswithboards.com

How many characters can I personalize?

The personalization field on this page shows the maximum length, and it varies by product and size. Not sure your wording will fit? Email or text us before you order and we'll help you find a layout that looks great.

Can I use this board for raw meat?

Yes — the sloped side is designed for carving meat, with a built-in channel to catch juices as you cut. Wash thoroughly with mild soap and water after each use, and let it dry completely before storing.

What's the difference between the small and large meat cutting board?

The small board measures 12" x 9" x 1.75" and comfortably holds about 4oz of liquid in its juice channel — a good fit for smaller cuts or weeknight meals. The large board measures 14" x 18" x 1.75" and holds about 16oz, making it better suited to a holiday roast, a full charcuterie spread, or serving a crowd.

Can I use both sides of the board?

Yes, it's reversible. The sloped side is built for carving meat and catching juices; flip it over to the flat side for everyday chopping, slicing, and prep.

Is a meat cutting board a good gift for grillers?

It's one of our most-gifted boards for exactly that reason. Customers give it as a Father's Day gift, a birthday gift for someone who's always at the grill, or a housewarming gift for a couple who loves to entertain — and personalizing it with a name turns a practical tool into a keepsake.

Proudly Made in America

We believe made in America matters — for the hands that make it, the economy we support, and the planet we all share.

In our Hampden woodshop, our artisans cut, sand, and finish our boards and lazy susans by hand, whether the words are hand-cut on a scroll saw or engraved in our studio. No shortcuts. Ever.

Love Love Love the slope design

This is just a fantastic cutting board. All the juices collect in the slope design while the opposite side is flat for other uses. Bought as a gift but had to have one for myself too!

Beautiful Carving Board! Exceeded our expectations!

I ordered the personalized large smart slope design carving board for my husband's birthday. He LOVES it. First, the board is beautiful. It arrived freshly moisturized, so the walnut was a deep, rich colour.

Second, the sloped design is just so much better than the traditional trough. The fluids drain to the back and we just rotate the board toward the sink and tilt for drainage.

Third, they have excellent customer service. Whilst ordering the board, we noticed that the number of characters needed for our inscription exceeded the maximum allowed on the website. We spoke with someone in the chat box who suggested a quick phone call. We called and she immediately picked up and was so helpful. We were able to add the exact inscription we wanted and it looks fantastic!

Aside from the lovely customer service, whom I suspect may have been one of the owners, we love that it is made in America.

Smart slope design

We saw a cutting board like this on a YouTube channel we watch every week, keep your daydreams with Marc and Trish. They were back east at a subscribers home catching, cooking and eating crabs. My husband and I thought this was the coolest cutting board, we have a large bbq and smoker set up out back. I should add…we don’t buy gifts for eachother, because we just buy what we want/need. BEST GIFT EVER!!! I have given one to friends, brother, parents and us. I use it everyday, literally, and I have used it for a quick party tray on the dinning table if we’re not using it for meat that meal.
P.S. buy the oil, worth it too:) hope this helps, also, great to support home grown company. Quality people and product
