For names that deserve a little more room, this custom cutting board carries the lettering across the top of the board and down the side. It's the only style we make this way, and it gives longer names and sayings space to breathe, with a modern look that's all its own. Every letter is hand-cut into solid American hardwood, so the personalization is part of the board itself.

Every board starts as sustainably forested American hardwood in our Hampden studio in Baltimore. The names are cut by hand with a scroll saw, letter by letter, then sanded smooth by one of our artisans. Choose the wood that suits them: maple is light and bright, cherry warms to a deeper red over time, and walnut is rich and dramatic.

Most of these boards become wedding and engagement gifts, and they tend to start a tradition. One customer received hers as a wedding gift in 2014 and has given about ten since. Others have sent them for Mother's Day, birthdays, Christmas, and as thank-yous for clients. And because we plant a tree in the U.S. for every board we sell, your gift gives back a little, too.

Can I see a proof before my board is made?

We do not provide proofs unless the board has special design features, such as custom messaging or logos not shown on the web site.

How do I care for a wooden cutting board?

Hand wash your board with warm water and mild soap, then prop it up so that it dries on all sides (you can also set it on a cookie rack to elevate it from the counter allowing for good air flow). Avoid soaking it in water. Periodically applying food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner will help maintain its beauty and prevent the wood from drying out.
