How long does it take to make a personalized cutting board?
It depends on the product. Each product page lists its production time in the Shipping tab, and personalized pieces are made to order in our Baltimore studio. During the holiday season, allowing extra time is always recommended. If you need it sooner, please email us at kim@wordswithboards.com
Can I see a proof before my board is made?
We do not provide proofs unless the board has special design features, such as custom messaging or logos not shown on the web site.
Can I use this as a cutting board?
No, this one is made for serving, not cutting. A knife would leave marks in the surface and could scar the engraving, so do your slicing on a cutting board and use this one to serve cheese, charcuterie, fruit, or dessert. Treated that way, it'll look just as beautiful for every celebration you bring it out for.
How do I care for a wooden cutting board?
Hand wash your board with warm water and mild soap, then prop it up so that it dries on all sides (you can also set it on a cookie rack to elevate it from the counter allowing for good air flow). Avoid soaking it in water. Periodically applying food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner will help maintain its beauty and prevent the wood from drying out.
Can personalized cutting boards go in the dishwasher?
No. Wooden cutting boards should never be placed in the dishwasher. Excessive heat and prolonged exposure to water can cause the wood to warp, crack, or split.
When will my order ship?
Most orders ship within 1–2 business days after your board is ready. (Personalized and made-to-order items have their own production timeline before that — see "How long does it take to make my board?" if you're not sure.)
Once we generate a shipping label, you'll get a confirmation email with a tracking number. It can take up to 24 hours for the carrier to start updating tracking information, so don't worry if it shows nothing right away.
Sending this as a gift? We never include pricing on the packing slip — so it's safe to ship directly to the recipient.
