One Tree Planted - Words with Boards

Plant a Tree

1 board purchased = 1 tree planted

Words with Boards is dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment, including supporting reforestation efforts. From the beginning, we've prioritized using American hardwoods sourced from sustainable forests to craft our cutting boards and other wooden products. In 2018, we took our commitment a step further by planting a tree for every wooden product sold through our website.

We don't actually plant the trees ourselves. Instead we have partnered with two 501(c)3 nonprofits to make this happen.

1.  One Tree Planted - Below is a breakdown of 3 states and one mountain range in the USA that need our help the most.
2. Locally we have partnered with Gunpowder Valley Conservancy. Now, every $150+ purchase on our site made by someone in Maryland a tree is planted in the Gunpowder Watershed—supporting clean water, healthy ecosystems, and a stronger community.

With your help, we can plant forests!

california forest fires
  • California is suffering from 5 years of drought and devastating loss from wildfires.
  • Over 1.3 million acres burned in 2017 and almost 3 million acres in 2020!

Oregon forests
  • Oregon has an estimated 522,000 acres, the equivalent of over 815 square miles, of forest cover that has disappeared since 2000.
Idaho Forest
  •  One Tree Planted's goal this year is to plant 500,000 trees in Idaho. This will create creature habitats and help to stabilize the soil and climate.
Florida at sunset overlooking the forest
  • Wildfires, strong storms and hurricanes all contribute to loss of trees that cover over 1,070,000 acres in Florida.
  • Planting trees will not only enhance people's lives but it will also protect the endangered birds, mammals, reptiles and plants species.
Appalachia range
  • 150 tree species are found in this region which encompasses most of the eastern part of the country from New York in the north to Alabama and Georgia to the south.
  • 83% of the habitat has been lost and planting trees will help restore this vast forest trail.
