The engraving happens in the same shop, so every scale and fin becomes part of the board itself. Cherry starts out a warm, rosy tan and deepens to a rich reddish brown with time, so the board only looks better season after season.

It's one of the easiest gifts to get right for someone who loves to fish. Customers give it for Father's Day, to the angler in the family, and to friends with a place on the lake, the river, or the beach. Pick the fish they're always chasing, then add a name, a boat name, or a favorite fishing spot to make it theirs.

How long does it take to make my order?

It depends on the product. Each product page lists its production time in the Shipping tab, and personalized pieces are made to order in our Baltimore studio. During the holiday season, allowing extra time is always recommended. If you need it sooner, please email us at kim@wordswithboards.com

When will my order ship?

Most orders ship within 1–2 business days after they're ready. Personalized and made-to-order items are made first, and the Shipping tab on each product page lists that production time.

Once we generate a shipping label, you'll get a confirmation email with a tracking number. It can take up to 24 hours for the carrier to start updating tracking information, so don't worry if it shows nothing right away.

How do I care for a wooden cutting board?

Hand wash your board with warm water and mild soap, then prop it up so that it dries on all sides (you can also set it on a cookie rack to elevate it from the counter allowing for good air flow). Avoid soaking it in water. Periodically applying food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner will help maintain its beauty and prevent the wood from drying out.

Can personalized cutting boards go in the dishwasher?

No. Wooden cutting boards should never be placed in the dishwasher. Excessive heat and prolonged exposure to water can cause the wood to warp, crack, or split.
