A Cutting Board for Meat, Made for the Griller in Your Life

For the dad who runs the smoker, the friend who always brings the brisket, or anyone who has never met a steak they didn't like, this carnivore cutting board says it right on the wood. CARNIVORE is laser engraved into solid cherry or walnut, and one side slopes toward a built-in well that catches the juices as you carve. It's a gift with a sense of humor, and one that gets used every week.

Why This Carnivore Cutting Board Is So Lovable

  • The sloped side, our own unique design, sends juices down to a well as you carve, so there's no worry about anything spilling over onto the counter.
  • It's reversible. Flip it over and the flat side is an everyday board for chopping fruit and vegetables.
  • Handles are carved into the wood on both sides, so it carries from the grill to the table like a platter.
  • Choose cherry or walnut, both sustainably forested American hardwoods.

It's called a meat board, but the slope is just as handy for anything juicy, like watermelon, pineapple, ripe tomatoes, or a steamed lobster. It earns its keep all year, from grilling season straight through the holidays, and it's a great way to carve and serve the Thanksgiving turkey. Not carving tonight? Build a carnivore charcuterie board on it instead, with sliced steak, sausages, and cured meats, and carry it to the table by the handles.

Each board is made in our Baltimore woodshop from sustainably forested American hardwood, then sanded and finished by hand. Cherry warms to a deeper red over time, and walnut is rich and dark from day one. The engraving is done in the same shop, so the word is part of the board for good.

Customers give our meat boards for Father's Day, for a husband's or brother's birthday, and to friends with a grill and a smoker out back. If you'd rather have their name on it, the personalized meat cutting board has the same sloped design with a name or short message. A bottle of our food-grade mineral oil keeps the wood looking its best. And because we plant a tree in the U.S. for every board we sell, this gift gives a little back, too.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this board for raw meat?

Yes — the sloped side is designed for carving meat, with a built-in channel to catch juices as you cut. Wash thoroughly with mild soap and water after each use, and let it dry completely before storing.

Can I use both sides of the board?

Yes, it's reversible. The sloped side is built for carving meat and catching juices; flip it over to the flat side for everyday chopping, slicing, and prep.

Are wooden cutting boards more sanitary than plastic ones?

Research has shown that hardwood cutting boards can be a safe option for food preparation when cleaned properly. Regular washing and allowing the board to dry thoroughly between uses are important regardless of the material.

How do I care for a wooden cutting board?

Hand wash your board with warm water and mild soap, then prop it up so that it dries on all sides (you can also set it on a cookie rack to elevate it from the counter allowing for good air flow). Avoid soaking it in water. Periodically applying food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner will help maintain its beauty and prevent the wood from drying out.

When will my order ship?

Most orders ship within 1–2 business days after they're ready. Personalized and made-to-order items are made first, and the Shipping tab on each product page lists that production time.

Once we generate a shipping label, you'll get a confirmation email with a tracking number. It can take up to 24 hours for the carrier to start updating tracking information, so don't worry if it shows nothing right away.

Sending this as a gift? We never include pricing on the packing slip — so it's safe to ship directly to the recipient.

What happens if I'm not happy with my order?

We unconditionally guarantee every gift we make. If something arrives that doesn't live up to your expectations — a defect, damage in transit, anything that isn't right — contact us and we'll make it right by sending a replacement.

We've been doing this since 2013, and we'd rather you tell us when something's wrong than walk away unhappy. Email kim@wordswithboards.com or use our contact page and we'll take care of you.
