An oval sits differently on a table than a rectangle does. It looks more like a platter than a kitchen tool, so it tends to stay out where people can see it. Every board starts as sustainably forested American hardwood in our Hampden studio in Baltimore. The names are cut by hand with a scroll saw, letter by letter, then sanded smooth by one of our artisans. No shortcuts. Maple is light and bright, cherry warms to a deeper red over time, and walnut is rich and dramatic.

Make It Yours
Add up to 15 letters: two first names, a family name, a nickname, or a short saying, and we'll cut it along the long edge of the oval. Want to mark the day? Add a laser-engraved date, like a wedding date or an anniversary. You can also add rubber feet, which lift the board off the counter so it dries evenly and is easier to pick up.

How do I care for a wooden cutting board?
Hand wash your board with warm water and mild soap, then prop it up so that it dries on all sides (you can also set it on a cookie rack to elevate it from the counter allowing for good air flow). Avoid soaking it in water. Periodically applying food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner will help maintain its beauty and prevent the wood from drying out.
