A Wooden Hanukkah Menorah with Their Name Hand-Cut in Baltimore

A great gift for the child, grandchild, or family who lights candles every Hanukkah, this personalized menorah has their name hand-cut right into the wood. Each one is made to order in our Hampden woodshop in Baltimore from sustainably forested American hardwood, with nine silver candle cups along the top. It's a menorah that could only belong to them.

Why This Personalized Menorah Is So Lovable

  • The name is hand-cut with a scroll saw, one letter at a time, so it's part of the menorah itself and will never fade or peel.
  • Nine silver candle cups sit along the top: one for each of the eight nights, plus the shamash.
  • Choose maple, cherry, or walnut. Not sure which? Maple is the wood that goes with everything.
  • Most of ours are made for kids, so each child has a menorah of their own to light.
  • Cleanup is simple. Wipe the wood with a damp cloth and it's ready for the next night.

Hanukkah is eight nights of the same small ritual, and kids love having a part in it that's theirs. That's who most of these menorahs are for. One set of grandparents ordered four for their grandchildren, and another customer told us the family she gave hers to loved it. A first name makes it a child's own. A family name makes it the one the whole household gathers around.

Every menorah starts as sustainably forested American hardwood in our Baltimore woodshop. One of our artisans cuts the name by hand with a scroll saw, letter by letter, then sands it smooth. The silver candle cups are set into the top, and it arrives ready for candles. Candles aren't included, so pick up a box in their favorite colors to go with it.

Customers give this wooden menorah as a Hanukkah gift for children and grandchildren, for a baby's first Hanukkah, and for families and couples setting up their own traditions. If you're shopping for Passover too, take a look at our personalized Seder plate. It's the kind of gift that gets lit, year after year, long after the wrapping paper is gone.

Make It Yours

Add a name of up to 12 letters, hand-cut with a scroll saw in our woodshop. Most people choose a child's first name, and a family name works beautifully for a household or a couple. Then pick your wood: maple, cherry, or walnut.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size candles fit the menorah?

There's no one standard menorah candle size, so it's worth checking before you buy. Each candle cup opening is about 3/8" wide and 3/8" deep, so look for candles with a base close to that. Candles aren't included.

How do I get candle wax off a wooden menorah?

Let the wax cool and harden first. Then carefully scrape it off the wood with a plastic credit card or something similar, and wipe with a damp cloth.

Is a personalized menorah a good gift for a child?

It's who most of ours are made for. With their own name cut into the wood, it's a menorah that's theirs to light every Hanukkah. A family name works just as well for a family or a couple.

When will my order ship?

Most orders ship within 1–2 business days after they're ready. Personalized and made-to-order items are made first, and the Shipping tab on each product page lists that production time.

Once we generate a shipping label, you'll get a confirmation email with a tracking number. It can take up to 24 hours for the carrier to start updating tracking information, so don't worry if it shows nothing right away.

Sending this as a gift? We never include pricing on the packing slip — so it's safe to ship directly to the recipient.

What happens if I'm not happy with my order?

We unconditionally guarantee every gift we make. If something arrives that doesn't live up to your expectations — a defect, damage in transit, anything that isn't right — contact us and we'll make it right by sending a replacement.

We've been doing this since 2013, and we'd rather you tell us when something's wrong than walk away unhappy. Email kim@wordswithboards.com or use our contact page and we'll take care of you.
