Our Story

10 years ago Mike and I started Words with Boards. We both had full-time jobs and were making the boards at night and on the weekends in the basement of our 1850’s Baltimore row home. We really had no idea how we would get the word out about our little cutting board business.

Well, it didn’t take long to get noticed in a big way. First by Martha Stewart, then Oprah and then Drew Barrymore.

We’ve come a long way in these last 10 years. We now have a studio and woodshop where there is plenty of head room! The one cutting board that started it all has now blossomed to many other wooden homegoods. We are proud to say they are all American made and hand crafted.

In 2018 we started planted a tree for every wooden product sold through our website. We have partnered with One Tree Planted, a 501C3 nonprofit, to plant trees for every wooden product sold through our website. With your help, we can plant a forest!
